DEVELOP YOUR ROMANTIC INTELLIGENCE

FEB 12-17, 2012

ESALEN INSTITUTE, BIG SUR

Early emotional disruptions in life make it difficult for many to develop romantic relationships.  You will learn to recognize your attachment issues, become aware of trauma based responses in relationship, learn about your ambivalence, and demystify the process of developing a close, safe relationship.

We will use state-of-the-art attachment approaches to work with your issues, Gestalt experiences, somatic experiencing, family systems, and expressive arts to safely explore the particular blocks you have.

Frances Verrinder PhD, MFT and myself have been working with indivduals and couples to expand their relationship satisfaction and comfort for many years. We have worked together and have developed an approach to address issues of love and safety.  Group process is a powerful, supportive arena to explore where you get stuck.

Your Romantic IQ will be expanded through:

  • developing your self-confidence,
  • learn to say "no" to the wrong person or situation,
  • develop your conditions for being in relationship,
  • learn to say "yes" when a responsive partner shows up,
  • create your vocabulary of intimacy, both alone by yourself, and together with your partner,
  • identify non-verbal messages your give off,
  • recognize non-verbal messages others send to you,
  • recognize some faulty basic assumptions you have about self-worth, romantic love, and autonomy,
  • heal your deeper wounds which prevent closeness,
  • become familiar with closeness, sex, and intimacy.
